Team building for Green Living Areas in the Mediterranean

On May 29 2025, the Sant Pau Recinte Modernista became a space for creation, play, and collective imagination. As part of the Interreg Euro-MED Green Living Areas project, more than 100 experts in sustainable community development took part in a unique team-building experience designed by La Città Infinita.

Working with simple, upcycled wooden pieces - discarded industrial materials with no predefined purpose - participants took their shoes off and like kids on a carpet explored what happens when creativity, cooperation, and sustainability come together. Guided through a playful and poetic methodology, they didn’t just build structures: they built relationships.

Across the session, the group moved from individual reflection to shared construction, first designing their own “homes,” then forming collective “neighborhoods,” and ultimately connecting everything into one shared Green Living Center. This center symbolized the mission of their project: “To improve the lives of Mediterranean citizens by promoting green living areas, enhancing climate resilience, and strengthening local communities.”

The final result was - more than a city made of wood - a living metaphor for the world we want to create: connected, collaborative, and deeply rooted in care.

  • We designed the team-building format to fully reflect and embody the values of Green Living Areas - not just illustrate them.
  • The experience unfolded in ten progressive steps, guiding participants from personal reflection to collective creation.
  • We worked exclusively with upcycled materials, offering environmental leaders a tangible way to practice circular economy principles while co-building together.
  • Throughout the workshop, we facilitated moments of shared reflection that connected individual values to a collective purpose, fostering dialogue, trust, and a sense of shared identity.
  • The session culminated in the co-creation of a collective manifesto — anchoring learnings and leaving the group with a clear, shared achievement.
  • Watching a hundred people slow down, listen, and create something together reminded us why play is such a powerful language.

  • Creativity allows people to meet each other in new, unexpected ways, even in formal settings

  • Circular materials and circular thinking go hand in hand: sustainability begins with how we connect.

  • The Green Living Areas team truly inspired us with their openness to try our approach, their enthusiasm and their commitment to bringing innovation into Mediterranean project management and collaboration.

What they say

Working with La Città Infinita was a transformative experience. We were looking for a way to strengthen collaboration within our Mediterranean Green Living Areas community, and they delivered far beyond a standard team-building activity. From the co-design process to the workshop itself, their approach was thoughtful, creative, and deeply human. The session sparked real connection and brought our participants together in a way that was original, playful, and genuinely meaningful. If you want to build community rather than just host an event, I wholeheartedly recommend La Città Infinita. They listen, adapt, and create experiences that truly resonate.
